BYOK and zero quotas — the pricing math nobody else will show you

Every competitor rations usage and marks up tokens. developerz.ai charges one flat price per AI dev and lets your own model key carry the inference bill. Here's why that's cheaper and more honest.

BYOK and zero quotas — the pricing math nobody else will show you

Look closely at how AI dev tools price, and you find the same shape everywhere: a base subscription, a quota you can exhaust, and a per-unit charge that scales with exactly the thing you want to do more of — files reviewed, tasks run, CI minutes burned.

developerz.ai prices the opposite way. One flat price per AI dev. No quota. Your own model key carries the inference cost. Here is the reasoning.

Where the markup hides

When a tool bundles inference into its price, it takes on your token risk — and it prices that risk in. You pay for the model plus the vendor's margin on the model plus a buffer for the heavy months. You cannot see the split, and you cannot shop the underlying model for a better rate.

Bring your own key removes the whole layer. The agent authenticates with your Anthropic, OpenAI, or Gemini key. The tokens are billed to you, at your negotiated rate, on an invoice you can read line by line. We never touch the inference bill, so there is nothing to mark up.

Why "zero quotas" is a feature, not a slogan

A quota is a vendor protecting itself from its own cost structure. Because we carry none of your inference cost, we have nothing to ration. Run the maintainer loop on one repo or a hundred; the price per AI dev does not change, and no counter ticks toward a wall.

The only variable cost is your token spend — which you already control, because it is your key.

The honest comparison

  • Bundled-token tools (coding assistants that resell inference): base fee + hidden model margin + quota caps.
  • Per-unit tools (review by the file, CI by the minute): the cost scales with usage, so success gets more expensive.
  • developerz.ai: one flat price per AI dev, BYOK, zero quotas — your token bill is your only variable, and it is the raw model price with no markup.

We would rather show you the math than hide it in a bundle. Cheaper is a nice side effect; honest is the point.
